EDUREFORM Teacher Training at Shivaji University, Kolhapur

EDUREFORM Teacher Training at Shivaji University, Kolhapur
Department of Education at Shivaji University Kolhapur organized EDUREFORM Vocational Training for In-service Secondary school teachers, in collaboration with the English Medium School’s Association of the Kolhapur district 25-27 September 2023.  A total of 54 teachers of English Medium Schools participated in this training program and 10 EDUREFORM pedagogical tools were presented during the training as the EDUREFORM Pedagogical tools are very innovative and student-centric and should be implemented in the teaching-learning process.
On 25 September 2023, the first session was conducted by Prof. Dr. P.S. Patankar on the tool, Case Study. The theory was explained first and then the activity was completed in which groups of teachers presented their Case studies teachers based on various subjects.
 
The inaugural function was done at 2 p.m. and Dr. Dnyaneshwar Muley, Member Human Rights Commission was the chief guest. He admired the EDUREFORM Project and threw a light on the current Education system.
 
The next tool Computational Thinking was presented by Dr. V.S. Khandagale. Participants took a lot of interest in understanding the steps and writing the Algorithm correctly.
On 26 September 2023, the first session was conducted by Dr. R.U. Sankpal, based on TEAL. The session gave emphasis on the technology-enhanced Teaching learning process. The participants prepared the Videos and PPTs and presented them to all.

The Second session was very interactive and presented by Dr. K.B. Patil. He explained the detailed process of the Debate and participants conducted a Debate on “Use of Mobile phones in the Classroom” which was excellent.

After lunch session was conducted by Dr. Vaibhav Jadhav on Microlearning Planner. The teachers liked this tool as it allowed them to teach the content by making small chunks of it.
The day ended with the Tool Concept Formation the Master trainer was Ms. Nidhi Waldia. All the participants enthusiastically participated in the activity of Web making which shows the interdependence of various elements of nature.
On 27 September the first session was conducted by Dr. Nagina Mali on Head and Tails. This tool helped the teachers to find out their strengths and weaknesses which in turn was helpful in the development of self-confidence.
 
The second session was presented by Dr. Supriya Patil based on the FIESE Model. The session was very interesting and all teachers participated in the activity. The next session was conducted by Shri S.B.Sonavane based on Elisir and Poison. This tool teaches how to make students learn from their mistakes. The participants presented their stories with a new plot very nicely.
 
The last pedagogical tool was Brainwork presented by Dr. Geetanjali Joshi. The participants designed and presented their own currency and got an insight into how to assign interesting projects to the students.
 
The training sessions were very interesting and interactive hence all participants enthusiastically responded to the activities. This will definitely help to inculcate analytical, Critical, and creative thinking skills among Secondary school students.
Honorable Prof. Dr.V.N. Shinde, Registrar, Shivaji University, Kolhapur was invited as a chief guest and Dr. Shaikh from DIET Kolhapur also chaired the session. All participants and Trainers were honored by giving certificates. The Chief Guest expressed his views about the Education system and congratulated the EDUREFORM Project for taking responsibility to bring change in the teaching-learning process.

A vote of thanks was proposed by Shri Suhel Bandar, Programme Coordinator, EMSA, Kolhapur. For the success of the training program, special efforts were taken by HOD, Prof. Dr. P.S Patankar, Department of Education, Dr. V.S Khandagale, Assistant Professor, and Dr. G.S Joshi, Innovation Manager, Department of Education Shivaji University, Kolhapur.
